You should be fine, though it is super-weird to see as an adult. I had also chalked it up to a fabricated memory when I happened upon it again. If you search "Bert and Ernie mummy" on YouTube it comes right up. It may or may not be part of the movie, actually.

Definitely part of the same movie, you guys. Big Bird/Snuffy is the (weirdly not-scary?) A plot, and the Bert & Ernie nightmare fuel is the dud out of a series of delightful supporting-character adventures.

I am here for all your Don't Eat the Pictures needs.

This is really timely, because I saw The Babadook a couple nights ago (highly recommend because it's a really lovely metaphor about depression/grief/anxiety/parental stress--but SO, so scary), and while I was good the first night after seeing it, my husband went out last night and I did. not. sleep. at. all.

YO FUCK THAT SCENE SO MUCH

I actually really loved Don't Eat the Pictures because I was a big art/Ancient Egypt/Metropolitan Museum nerd, but that scene was very very upsetting. Recently I was watching through Bert & Ernie clips on YouTube and that clip came up, and something very very deep inside me said "NOPE NOPE NOPE!" Every now and then someone brings it up on the Internet, and it's really validating that it was so scary for other kids too.

I do like it. It's has a mostly-Latino cast. The OB-GYN, who is a prominent character, is a QPOC, and that's cool. But the fact that Jane chooses to remain pregnant, and that that's really key to the show's plot, is very distracting for me.

This reminds me. Has anybody tuned in to Jane The Virgin? It's really fun, but the not-getting-an-abortion aspect is...troubling to me. I know there are cultural aspects to take into consideration, and they do address it in the show, but even so, the situation is so absurd (and, again, I know it's a telenovela, so realism is not necessarily the priority) that I just can't quite do it. Anyone else?

ETA: For those who aren't familiar with the show, it's about an adult virgin-by-choice in a committed LTR who conceives when her distracted OB-GYN inseminates her instead of doing a pap smear.

MY HEART HURTS

On the RSVP cards to our wedding, we asked guests to list their favorite dancing song. My dad wrote the following, verbatim:

Wild Horses (Stones)
Locomotive Breath (Tull)
Magic Carpet Ride (Steppenwolf)
For Crying Out Loud
All Revved Up (Meat Loaf) [He put a large bracket around those two, so I would remember that they were by the same artist.]
Money For Nothing (Dire Straits)
Desperadoes [sic] Under the Eaves (Zevon)
Accidentally Like A Martyr (Zevon) [no brackets here; inconsistent]
Tangerine (Led Zep)

They were all written in kind of a bubble, and my mom wrote "We Are Family!" in the middle.
