The truly disturbing thing is when it still smells good, but it is a horror to look at.

I've seen at least one proposal to strip the gendering of nouns from Spanish, and now I am kicking myself for not following that link. I think it would be a hard sell (and I am an American who has to fight really hard to not run screaming if she finds herself needing to speak Spanish), but over the years I've seen some English gender-neutral pronouns catch on in certain corners of the Internet, so I doubt it's not possible for it to become a notable variation on how the language is spoken. But the examples of "hir" or "zie" work pretty differently in English than they would in a language where gender is baked into every noun.

It was frequently bleeped for radio play, which I thought was strange, since the ultimate message is that drugs are fun but not forever. I also didn't really get that it was a drug reference. Just seemed kind of poetic and neat.

I am shocked at how much this echoes what I felt when I got married when I was 22, except I didn't get to feel like I was smashing the patriarchy. It's one of the weirder flavors of damned if you do, damned if you don't.

People will find a way to ignore the person they know you to be and insert some kind of cartoon. (In your case, fatal boy-craziness, and in mine, a bridezilla)

I am not really a hugger, but I'm trying to be more of one. It pleases other people more than it bothers me, what the heck. When I hear about side-hugs, I get paranoid that I'm being too boobish if I just do a full-on hug. I'm pretty used to these chesticles I have, but others may not be. Is it rude to moosh my chest against that of a person I don't know very well?

I became one of the people who needs drugs to live around when zombies got cool, but I had always worried about birth control in those situations. I'd go into business making it.

I recently decided that one of the pop-cultural tests for what generation you were part of is that millennials' knowledge of literature is highly mediated by Wishbone. Okay, I was watching it in high school. A lot of episodes of it are on YouTube.
