8 years is a long time in a blogger's life. Unfortunately I didn't make it that far, but you never know down the road. It has brought so much into my life...not only amazing books that I would have never read otherwise, but real-life friends now, and interactions with authors and publishers. It has totally enriched my life and I'm not sorry about a minute of it. Here is to 8 more with you!

So glad to hear there is positive news for Kate...I am sure it is the dog! Dogs heal a lot of troubles.

That sweet doggie, and those eyes. So soulful! And no spreadsheet for me, and I'm an accountant by trade as well. Had enough of those to last a lifetime. And oh, how awesome to have four hours to read. I should have done that. It is really the perfect amount of time.

I'm jealous of you finishing anything! Ha! I'm so slow these days. We saw recently The Imitation Game, Ida (foreign film nominee) and American Sniper. All excellent! My mom and I go nuts at this time and try to see as many as we can. Busy schedules interfere, but we try. Helps that Budapest and Boyhood are on DVD. And I really love your weekly doggy picture. I am right there with you. Dog love is pretty heady.

I think that is a requirement of the winter...to get really sick. It always gets passed around at our house, no matter whether we get a flu shot or not. And I didn't see "If I Stay" at the theater, but my daughter did. She was all gaga. I loved those two books. My husband bought a Polish cookbook written by journalist Anne Applebaum (married to the Polish Defense Minister) and a Washington Post journalist, as a gift for his cousin. With that purchase he was able to get it on Kindle for $3 so I dug through it (weird to read a cookbook on Kindle) and got inspired to make a bunch of stuff. So I've been cooking today.

Savor is a good word. I need to make an attempt to do more of that. And I had all these grandiose ideas of seeing all these awesome movies over the holiday but the only one I saw was Unbroken. Which was just OK. The audio is great though...you will like it.

The Book Thief is just incredible. For fun, you should try a re-read with the audio. Amazing stuff.

The year I read this, it made my best of list. It was very well-written and thorough. Fascinating and disturbing too, particularly at how screwed up the stories were that we heard from the press.

It warms my heart to see dogs rescued! He is adorable, and such a sweet little face. I love that he looks like a Golden but is smaller. It's been well over 10 years since we had to put our Lab down. I keep telling my husband it is time, but he isn't budging for now.

I'm horrible at journaling. I know some people who keep a journal their entire lives but I've never made it for more than a month or two.
