Dear Ms. Loesch,
The members of the Progressive Christian Alliance would like you to know that while you have identified a few things about us that are accurate, much of your post is filled with misleading and inaccurate details of our Alliance.
The blogpost that you critique in the beginning of your post identified itself in the first sentence as an “imaginative” construction of what the birth of Jesus might be like today. You inaccurately claim that the author identified Jesus as “an illegal alien” when, in fact, he did not state this.
You qualify our group as “hippified humanism”. While some of our members might have, at one point in their lives, been “hippies” and while some of our members might identify as “humanists” most of our members come from traditional Christian churches, experiences and theologies. As such, many, but not all, hold traditional views on theology and matters of biblical interpretation. We are quite diversified in our views of traditional theology, yet are quite united in our belief that Christianity in general, and churches in particular, should be accepting of all who wish to experience the love and grace of God. We encourage dialogue and action related to the political, social, and personal realities of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We invite you to ask us questions about the Progressive Christian Alliance so that, first of all, you might accurately understand who we are and what we are about, and so that, secondly, you may be more accurate about us in your writing.
Respectfully,
The Progressive Christian Alliance
