Like RR1 said they're probably giving him time to heal without taking him out completely. I could see this turn into a feud as well. Inevitably they'll drop the belts one will blame the other and the singles push for them both begin.
It has to be Sting. He's done amazing things in the ring since the start of his career. For example the Blade Runners when he teamed with the Ultimate Warrior. Then his time at WCW and most recently TNA. He's superb on the mic as well.
I have the utmost respect for "The Icon" when most wrestlers would have jumped ship for a bigger payday he stuck by the brand he believed. Some may say WWE never wanted him and that would be a lie he has been offered several contracts. Most recently a couple of years ago WWE teased he was coming to them, but he turned them down and stuck by TNA because it is a product he believed in. Just a fun fact who did the WWE end up with at that time Nash and Booker T.
As far as Jeff Jarrett not being the Hall of Fame inductee. It is true we wouldn't have TNA without him. It's also true he may be bitter how things have changed and that is why he has distanced himself from TNA, but it isn't because management is upset with him. It may be his choice to have others inducted before himself. It seems he doesn't care about the spotlight. From his tweets on Sunday he wasn't even in attendance he wasn't even near Boston. So if he still cared wouldn't he at least be in attendance?
He even congratulated Kurt as did Karen via Twitter on Monday.
It seems these days he just enjoys spending time with his family and occasionally wrestling in Mexico.
To those bashing the Main Event. I agree it would have been nice to end with a clean finish. However, No Holds Barred Matches rarely do. I also feel they may have given Sting a little creative control in the match. During the contract signing he told Ray in elaborate fashion that basically he wants him to destroy him because if he doesn't he would destroy Ray. So is it unheard of that "The Icon" would want his last Title Match to go down like this? I mean he was proving a point that he wasn't going to be beat unless there were insurmountable circumstances. I would say all the chairshots, pile drivers, the powerbomb through the table, the piledriver on the plywood, 7 guys and a hammer are insurmountable circumstances and it made his hard fought loss legit.
In some twisted way I feel this match was a homage to "The Icon" to show his heart and determination. In my 25 years of watching wrestling there has only been one guy that would have bothered me if they never got in the ring. That guy is "The Icon". So even though his career is winding down there is still a disappointment I feel when he has to job to someone. At least he was able to put on a hell of a show and put all he had into it on his last Title Match.
To those bashing Dixie. Sometimes you have to play the Network game. Since "Rampage" has a contract with Spike TV for a reality show and what ever else they think of. It may have been the Network Execs that pushed her into giving him a TNA contract. I still stick by my previous comment that this isn't a bad thing. Just wanted to shed light on what the true situation could be.
I understand why some are upset by this announcement. However, bringing in "Rampage" is a surprise and not a bad thing. As a Pro Wrestling Enthusiast I try to predict the future and I would have never predicted "Rampage" as the free agent. He is definitely a bigger name than "King Mo" and TNA could use the fact that they are in the same weight division to their advantage. For example they could build a feud between the two and it could look legit because it is quite possible they would be facing each other in Bellator at some point. With "Rampage" having some acting experience I think he can transition to Pro Wrestling quite well and I wouldn't mind seeing "King Mo" vs "Rampage" in the ring come Bound For Glory. Let's be real there's just more they could do in the Ring than in the Cage.
I hope we see who the BIG "free agent" is this week. I know the loyal TNA fans will tune in for a glimpse of the "free agent" and disregard the NBA Playoffs, but if it is not announced this week I'm afraid the hype will be lost and some will loose interest.
I agree that Angle vs Styles has been done too many times and there wasn't a build to constitute another match. However, if anyone didn't know that was what was going to happen after their little scuffle they are ignorant. I also don't see how either Joseph Park or D'Lo could be in the Main Event, but it happened. Since the whole D'Lo being fired was storyline I don't see this as a push since he has just been fing up and got demoted in the Aces & 8s. I see it as a way to write him off TV till he "begs" for his "Management" Job back. I find Joseph Park rather annoying and with the return of Abyss recently I could see the angle finally come to an end. By way of Parks bleeding transforming to Abyss and winning the Title. Only this time he doesn't snap out of it he removes the Track Suit and puts on the mask. Then they can play it as either an alter ego or Mind Games. I also agree Storm has proved himself as a great singles competitor so putting him in a tag match doesn't make sense. But, I think Chavo and Hernandez will retain the Titles so it's just filler and doesn't matter. I would like the Title away from Bully Ray but putting on Sting at this point isn't the right choice. They could however put it on Sting for awhile and then give it to Morgan since that's how it should have played out. As far as Velvet I won't talk about that there isn't anything exciting going on in the Knockout Division right now for me to care.
