Fried Greet Tomatoes was so good. I was reading one of Fannie Flagg's books (can't remember which one) on an airplane once. I was laughing so hard I couldn't stop, my kids were mortified, and people were staring at me.

Our August book is The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt. It is a young adult book that one of our member's grandsons recommended to us. Last month we read Sister by Rosamund Lupton. It is an English mystery, a genre I like but I didn't like this one. In September we are reading Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan. In October Ordinary Grace, and in November Dolores Clairborne by Stephen King. In December we will read a book about the Magdalene laundries, then watch the movie Philomena.

My book club is reading "All the Light We Cannot See" also. We read Fanny Flagg's "The All Girl's Filling Station" last year. You can never go wrong with Fannie Flagg, you laugh, you cry.

Why was my post removed? It did not come down on those who choose to not immunize. I shared my grandmother's story of losing several children to diphtheria and polio. There was no reason to remove my reply.

Suisse Mocha sounds like something I'd try.

It's not a big deal Deanna but it's not the reality or truth. I support truth in adoption, no lies. I raised my kids to be proud of their home country. If that country had been Korea then that's the country they'd claim.

My reply is being discussed elsewhere. No where in my reply do I say my son is Korean, he is not. I think people are making that assumption because I also said that many Korean adoptees are reuniting. My son is from Colombia.

Lots of Korean adoptees are finding their natural parents so this mother may be in for a rude awakening.

I located my son's natural mother when he was 15 so they now have been reunited 16 years. He married a woman from his home country and they now live there.

I really have no empathy for this kind of adoptive parent. When you adopt the reality is your child has another set of parents, and it is their choice later on to know them

I agree with a lot of this. One thing about avoiding sick people is that most viral infections are communicable before the person has any symptoms so unless we live in a bubble we can't avoid exposure. So keeping our immune system healthy is extra important. I do get a flu shot yearly because if I get influenza I'm guaranteed pneumonia due to my lung status.

Chicken soup sounds so good on this cold, rainy day.

Sometimes when a neighbor's yard isn't kept up it can be because they are ill. One of the nicest things a neighbor ever did for me was rake and clean up my yard when I was going through breast cancer treatment. It would not have happened otherwise and maybe some other neighbors would think I was just being lazy.

I don't have a yard now as I live in a downtown neighborhood. But if I ever have a yard again I want it to be all wildflowers.
