I will make my departure. I was aware of the direction this discussion would go but did not take up my own counsel. I should have. Women have a right to their ideas without encumbrances such as mine.
I am fine with your certainty, for you! I am not so fine with it when it is made a requirement for others to know the truth. No one can know for certain what truth is. You are trusting Christian truth is true as a matter of faith. That is where this discussion grinds to a halt because there is no counter argument for faith. Faith in something intangible and based on unprovable suppositions does not make it true. The fear humans have facing death is at the root of hope for an after life.
The premise that Christians have the only truth worth considering is not acceptable to me. The arguments you put forth may be convincing to those who believe the truth is only found in a Christian context are not relevant to me. No doubt there is a goodly portion of wisdom based on a set of Christian principles.even though those principles may not be universally accepted. However, claiming to have the only truth worth considering is, in my opinion, arrogant and disputable. It is akin to having a closed mind.
If you mean our country is being destroyed because Christian values are not adhered to, I disagree. Christians have had ample opportunity to be the culture, more than enough. Live it like you prefer. Let others know why you are a Christian if they ask. Obviously you find it fulfilling to live the Christian life. many do not. I would leave well enough alone as this hue and cry about our culture has always existed. We have written evidence of it going back thousands of years.
One needs to keep in mind that Miley does not purport to be a Christian and thus has no Christian moral constraints.
