I've read Girl from The Train (best read of 2015) and King's Solomon's Mines. I have another on my TTT list set in S.A. -- No Greater Love by Kathi Macias. It is Christian fiction. I also loved Cry, The Beloved Country.

I have been disappointed recently by this book offer/non-offer stuff. One PR group in particular makes the pitch that really turns out not to be an offer at all. When I get an email from them now, I just hit delete. Most of my book review experience has been great, so I guess I will just stick with the tried and true groups that have proven great over the years.

I went to see Brave last night with my 20 year old daughter and so glad I did. Yes, the main character didn't want to get married, but the story is more about the mother/daughter relationship -- not understanding each other, etc. I loved the movie and so glad I went with my dear girl.

About the publishing announcement -- My book club (meeting for 9 1/2 years) read a non CBA offering this month. A first for us, it prompted more discussion than we've had in a long time. One of our members said that the novel could have been written from a christian perspective and been great. But of course if the announcement is any indication of the industry as a whole, that book won't be published any time soon. Not sure who answers those surveys, it surely wasn't any member of my group.

My book club won copies of Night Road. We are scheduled to read it in Feb. One of our member's husband has already read it and loved it. Glad to hear about Paradise Valley. It and its sequel are languishing on my shelves.

I read the second book about Tom Ripley -- Tom gets his comeuppance, but lands on his feet. Highsmith's books are really interesting and good entertainment too. Strangers on A Train was excellent as well.
