You could use that phrase "When life gives you ___, you make shepherds pie" for all kinds of things. A dish of hot food with mashed potatoes on top pretty much solves all of the worlds problems. I'll keep this recipe in mind for the next time my life calls for comfort food!

I love how you broke the original recipe down into it's individual components, which are all quite tasty. That fig+rosemary jam sounds especially wonderful, and a fitting tribute to San Francisco's fleeting summer!

I thought I clicked on the wrong post when I first started scrolling down this page. Pudding pops? Then I saw your pregnant woman logic and understood. Hey, go with what you love to eat and what your body is telling you to EAT NOW!
Who doesn't love a good pudding-anything? These pops look like springtime comfort food on a stick! Yum!

Funny that you zeroed in on the curry powder. I saw that in the original recipe and vaguely considered seasoning my dish with it but only as an afterthought.
I am so happy to see stuffed pumpkins - they are my favorite thing to stuff and a meatloaf baked inside a pumpkin makes meatloaf so sophisticated!

It's a good thing you love stirring because clearly you have the knack for creating fantastic risottos with that left hand of yours! I think you've convinced me to try making a risotto for the first time. Hey, I've got time to stir.

Sounds like you really worked hard for this swap! I love that you call it a "remake" by the way, because that's really what it is.
Great story about your childhood zabaglione memories! What could be more tempting to a kid than an ice cream that starts with Z?

I didn't know what zabaglione was either! I had a good time asking various people if they knew. I like that you stuck with the "for two" aspect of the recipe. That was my favorite part of it.
Flan is so yummy I don't know why I never made it! I do have some vanilla beans to perhaps I'll give it a try (since they sound like the perfect flavor to add).

mmmm blondies...I always forget how much I love them! It's funny how holiday baking has influenced all our swap recipes this time around!
Now that you've reminded me how much I love blondies, these are totally going on my Christmas cookie tray!

You really do push the envelope and I love what you come up with! I also really love reading about your thought process for coming up with your swap recipe - that might be the best part.
I've got to get my hands on some of this mesquite flour! I keep hearing about it and it sounds like it'd make a to-die-for cookie, especially with all the other yummyness you put in there!

Yay, another savory recipe! Those of you who veered away from cake are so brave! Everything in your little pies sounds wonderful - I'll have to make a vegetarian version.
You were at the Foodbuzz Fest? So was I. I wish I'd known so we could have met!
