I'm pretty disturbed by the fact that no one told the author that tinea versicolor is a fungal infection and can be treated. I mean, presumably she has seen a doctor at some point?

I had it in the late 90s and some people in my social circle were very mean to me about it. I had red spots all over my back and neck. My doctor prescribed a dandruff shampoo and told me to use that to scrub my back and neck every day. It took a long time, about a year, but the tinea did go away and has not returned.

It is really a myth that there are no oil glands around the eye. Hence we get such things as milia and greasy eyelids.

Yay thanks for posting this! I might give it a shot someday. I would indeed use a zig-zag stitch when sewing this with a machine, not least of all because I could make the stitch as wide as the elastic and therefore keep the edges of the elastic flat. But yours does look good, how does it feel when wearing it?

If sewing by hand, you can mimic a zig-zag by sewing a straight stitch in zig-zags across the elastic: straight stitch in one direction, then straight stich in the other.
