I'm a bit late to this post but here goes anyway, seeing as there's a lot of people posting their own stories.

About a year ago, I was in my final year of high school. I was absolutely terrible in school work and constantly lacked motivation to get better, now mind you my teachers claimed me to be capable and your typical Asian student who should be in the top tiers of the cohort.

My problem was being addicted to the Internet and video games in general. About halfway through the year, one of my friends on Steam linked me the first episode of Friendship is Magic, also telling me it's my kind of thing since it's 'extremely cute and full of daawwwww'hs'

But alas, I didn't do as well as I could in that year but I gathered courage and determination to re-do another year. An ATAR score of 37/100 in Australia is absolutely horrible if you're trying to get into a university.

The point of this story is that the show and the fandom that the people that support it has encouraged me to try my best, it's just amazing how many people I've met in real life and online that are just extremely nice and caring. This show and the fandom has the power to help someone with depression, which is why I continue to stay. The artwork and other various fan made content such as original music or remixes really strikes me to be a community that is bound together through one common interest.
