Wow, talk about taking Christmas a little too seriously. If they are THAT determined to keep the Christ in Christmas then they need to get out of the stores and into volunteerism and showing love... in the spirit that Christ would have shown. But you know, whatever.

Oh I'll have to check that out, I was just going to get reflective tape and go to town on my 3 year old's blue pants and a blue T shirt (our uniforms are navy blue pants and shirts). This looks easier :D

thup thup thup (without any emphasis on the p) really fast works too for helicopter sounds...General Tank (6) has me well schooled in the various large machine noises. We've had a week long run of T3 needing, and I mean NEEEEDING a nap, but the nap resulting in 11pm "mama?!?!" calls!

That's a common "fix it" in my kids' school when the problem in the homework is the pencil pushing. They do still do handwriting work to help make that less of an issue, but that is more rote practice of stuff they already know (so the learning is the writing but it's better than "hey write B 17 times) but for other subjects where the kid is getting the concept but is hung up on writing it down, they allow the kid to dictate to the parent. I don't know for how long they let this go on, the family I know that has done this it became a non-issue by the end of the year on its own....experience and handwriting practice. It also got so the student realized it would be FASTER for her to write it down instead of having to dictate it.

Our school sticks to the 10 minutes of homework per grade and the parents are instructed to stop after 10 minutes if homework becomes a problem (and they mean 10 minutes of actual work, you have to take away the 23 pencil changes, all the erasing and the random stories that pop in). I was hesitant to do this because I like things to be done, but we started doing and and taking the pressure off did wonders...she was able to concentrate more when it wasn't OMGAH HOW WILL I DO ALL THIS.

Good luck to you.

I TRIED to convince the hosts of my baby shower to do the more "open house/come chill/be silly" but nOOOOOHHHH, they had to torture the grump pregnant lady. Not so oddly, I'm not friends with them anymore....(not directly as a result of that but more the glaring differences in our approaches to uh...existing.)
