This is just silly. Autism does not cause murder. The Washington Post story has easily been disproven, using the "researchers'" own data. Only one of their "six out of 239" "definitive autism diagnoses" could be proven to actually have an autism dx. That particular person did not kill anyone, although he tried. Even that dx, is based on one reference that does not give any sources as to whether or not the dx is accurate. In the case of the Isla Vista murders recently, whether or not he was Autistic (there are two sources- one, a lawyer hired by the family says yes, and another, a friend of the family, says no) is not relevant since there are so many murderers who are not Autistic. To pin this murder on autism is to ignore every other factor and fixate on autism. So, misogyny, racism, access to weapons, belonging to hate groups, is discounted, all in favor of autism. Misogyny and racism and hate groups are not confined to the autism spectrum at all. They are too pervasive in society to be attributed to one neurology. http://paulacdurbinwestbyautisticblog.blogspot.co... and http://paulacdurbinwestbyautisticblog.blogspot.co...

In 2013, I have this to say. I don't actually think there are Autistic superpowers. I had fun thinking about that and writing the answer, but I don't think any of the things I listed, or anything that Autistic people do, including being able to hear more than a typical person or to have 20/10 vision is a "superpower." Those things fall within the range of human variation, although they are not common. Now if I could see *through* things, THAT would be a superpower. And I mean it literally, not as in "I see through your deceptive machinations..."

Jane, were you talking to me or to TPGA? If it's me, we should 1. Probably talk off this list, and 2. I don't remember having a photo essay, so it's probably NOT me!
