Ha! That typo was supposed to read "middle class white woman," but middle clue(less) works just fine :)

Fantastic post. Too often people use the phrase of "not seeing color" as a way to divert from the uncomfortable discussions surrounding race and race relations. (which is more often than not so uncomfortable because we have to confront or own role in the world. Complete with the inherent privilege that you speak of. And I speak as a middle clues white woman.)
It sounds like Jacob has a thing our two to teach all of us :)

That is incredible that you have done a 31 day challenge! I have heard it said that after 20 or so days something becomes a habit, so it becomes easier to stick with it. And yeah, I have to do that with working out as well. Boy, did I fall off the wagon on that!

Totally trying this recipe - it's perfect because I am off dairy right now, not a fan of eggs, AND I have a bunch of frozen bananas I have been meaning to use.
And banana bread is totally healthy. As is the pear tart I plan on making later :)

I am still a ways away from TinyOne being in to children's programming...I think? But that is amazing, the "step back" actually being progress. And now that I think about it, do we all do that to some extent? Revisit past familiarities with more mature eyes?

I hope your summer cold gets better fast!

Take time for yourself...it really is essential. I know. easier said than done, right? And I agree, cry a lot if you need to!

Keep writing...those jumbled words that are on the tip of your tongue? They fell out very eloquently in this post. Spend another 5 or 10 minutes just writing, maybe it will help you get a better handle on what you want to say? Or you can just print it off and hand it to your husband when he asks you to make a decision!

Yeah. My SOC was very similar to yours...a funny story: right before my due date I stocked up on fancy bath products. I had visions of taking relaxing baths after the baby went to sleep, not realizing that if I had even 10 spare minutes, I would have a list the size of my arm to complete. And I really didn't realize that I would ignore that list and just choose Sleep. Every. Time.

There really is something about graveyards - the older the more intense this "something" is too. They are so steeped in history and a quiet contemplation for me. I grew up in the Northeast, and there was an abundance of 100 year old graveyards to explore. Some that had been completely overgrown and were forgotten off the side of a dirt road in the middle of the woods, others that had expanded to meet the modern world. One of these had a small enclosure in the back that was the original graveyard, surrounded by a high stone wall. Inside, there was a grave for someone who passed away in the 1800's on February 31st (!?) and then there were Edith and Ethel - the twins. One died the day she was born, and the other died EXACTLY 100 years later. I think of those two often: Its almost as if one sister lived an extra long life for the one who couldn't.

Oh, what I am in for! I have a cat. Once, when his litterbox was accidentally blocked off, he pooped in the bathroom right in front of the toilet. Like he was showing that he knew where it went, he just couldn't get there.

I hope I am still that lucky when this little munckin in my arms is potty training.

And I may have to adopt the use of the word smuck!
