it looks really terrible, especially for such an expensive piece of clothing!
I think of myself lucky for having developed this type of "eye". It's so much easier to avoid buying crap! In this case you noticed the bad matching, but you might notice something being off grain or bad seams etc. and that might save you money.

I recently purged my wardrobe from unused handmade items. I was just teeny tiny bit sad, but I know it had to be done: they had never been worn, weren't flattering on and took up space. I savaged buttons, zippers and other notions as you did, I do the same with RTW I throw away.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue... I just moved the notches towards the center on the pattern and -ahem- hope that it'll work like that.
