I think you hit on what's at the heart of the matter for a lot of black women... the pedestal thing.

My last serious relationship was with a white guy, but that doesn't stop me from pausing when I see black men with white women. Call it hypocritical, but I think it's because inside I wonder if he's with her because he's really attracted to who she is or because, even just in part, he places her on a pedestal. As if he won something because he's with a white woman.

However, slowly I'm getting to the point where I can't be bothered with wondering about all that. Men who think it's acceptable to dismiss black women just for being black -- they have problems I can't beging to understand and I'm only going to drive myself crazy trying to.
