I actually don't mind being called "clever girl" because that implies I am a powerful velociraptor.

I enjoyed this book from a Public Health perspective. How to stop the spread of a powerful epidemic? But you're right that it skips over the biomedical sciences.

That is so incredibly awful. I ride the bus all the time in Boston (for the last 6 years), and I have never once seen a bus driver or passengers do what the folks in London did to you. If people happen to be sitting in the wheelchair seat, they always get up when someone with a wheelchair is getting on, the bus driver mandates that the wheelchair using passenger gets on the bus before the people without wheelchairs, etc... I can't speak to the trains, but I can at least say, the buses seem to do better. It amazes me that you even have to book ahead of time with special tickets. The hell?!

What a great topic! I must say, I'm not surprised to see a fellow librarian is a member of BAND ;-)

I'm glad you've joined us!!

Your post reminded me of my old obsession with field guides, although mine was for New England wildlife in general, not just hummingbirds. Do you still remember much that you learned about them way back when?
