Great post! People don't realize it can be very insensitive to keep asking, "So, when are you guys having kids?" because of things just like this! I'm glad you were finally blessed with a sweet baby!

Thanks for the extra motivation! I am determined to get moving to kick start my weight loss again. I have a toddler and a five year old at home and it's so hard to get anything done with them! I'm pulling out the Wii Fit to start there. Thanks for linking up to Let's Get Real- it was fun to watch a video!

I find that chopping them very small helps, too. (My oldest one has eagle eyes, though, so it sometimes backfires) :)

I do not believe this post was written as a diatribe against unwelcome gifts. Rather, it was full of suggestions from the viewpoint of a teacher regarding what would be appreciated. As a parent, I appreciate the "inside view" and don't think this post was selfish and ungrateful in nature at all. Perhaps you missed this:

"First off, let me say this: Teacher's (99% of them) are really grateful to receive anything. And I mean that, anything. It just means a lot to be recognized for all they do on a daily basis. (I won't get on a soapbox here, but trust me when I say your teacher's three months "off" in the summer are spent working, attending training, getting a jump on next year.)"

***or this***

The ultimate point is that if you make the gift personal, it won't matter what it is (even if it's lotion! ha!) or how much it costs. Personalized teacher gifts show you care about them as a person and recognize their hard work.

"Lastly, if you don't feel a gift is appropriate (or you can't afford one), at least send a nice note or card. Some of my favorite gifts, haven't been gifts at all. The've been letters from parents sharing their appreciation."

I've never understood the idea of fingerless gloves. My FINGERS are cold! :) But I love those solid infinity scarves!

I'm loving all these Dollar Store ideas! I see those things and my brain says, "Someone could do something cute with that." Glad you did. :)

Well, duh! Why didn't I think of something like that in place of a traditional wreath! We had a wicked wind storm two years ago at Christmas and my wreaths all blew away or were just destroyed. I looked last year everywhere and never found one I liked. I hoped to get one in after Christmas sales, but they were still so expensive! You can bet I'm heading to Dollar Tree this weekend! Thanks for the inspiration!

Great tips! My three kids range from incredibly picky (he has sensory issues related to autism) to "willing to try anything" so I'm always trying to get creative with the veggies! :) Thanks for linking up to Let's Get Real!
