I've had lots of issues with my first name, which was uncommon even in India, and completely manged in the West, and in such a context, a name can of course take on a lot of baggage--ethnic identity, race, etc etc. I know exactly what you mean in those last two paragraphs, and love the way you articulated it. Anyway, I made sure my son has a very short (three letter) name.

Yes to the solitary walking! And I sometimes talk to myself as I walk, do you? And enjoy seeing people avoid the crazy muttering lady :)

Box 2 or 3 would be awesome! I'm in Canada, which I always think of as semi-international :)

Yeah, I get pens too! It's thoughtful but pretty much wasted on me as I tend to lose pens daily. I also lose bookmarks...so my ideal bookish gift would be, well, books!

I read some of her work (waaay!) back when I was a teen. She's written some of the most spineless heroines in the English-speaking world----they are all virginal and tremble-y and worshipful of MEN. I agree that she's got an admirable work ethic--but my admiration for her stops right there!

The plot sort of reminds me of Groundhog Day. The GREATEST FILM EVER! The quotes sound a bit.. preachy though. I'm marking this one a hmmm, maybe.
