I can get through maybe 3 before wanting to throw a glass at the wall or something dramatic. Mostly I want to send every single story to my PhD dudefriend and ASK HIM WHY HE ISN'T CHANGING THINGS.

"Over the next few days, I would hardly see anyone who wasn’t white." I know Leigh talked a lot about dudes who thought women soldiers were "farbish"; wondering if they would have the same reaction to POC who wanted to participate? From what very little I know, that's an issue faced by many of people of color who are into steampunk communities.

This was really good! I felt like I learned a lot.

It's a sign that you really need to make it your ringtone.

I LOVE THIS. I love that this exists after today's Link Roundup. I loved both films, but found myself laughing out loud more during the Whedon adaptation. (Maybe I "got it" more, then?) The comedy shone through — that, and ALL THE BOOZE.

That said, the casting of the Brannagh version is exquisite. We actually watched this in my "Women in Comedy" literature class a few years ago, and all the students laughed uproariously when Keanu appeared on screen. (Just... he wasn't who we were expecting?) My professor looked up the NYT review, which gave Reeves glowing praise.
