You are rifght Lori, you must be in prayer and seeking Godly guidance when you find yourself in this situation. Also, remember that only specific sins are mentioned in that verse and I found I had to go back to the original Greek to see exactly what was meant by the words used so I could be sure I was applying it correctly. It is very, very difficult and, if any of you find yourself in this situation, make sure everything you do is predicated on the Word of God and done in love and be in constant prayer, seeking the Lord's will. I prayed every day that if I was in error, the Lord would send a Godly person to correct me. What I got was Godly people coming to me to tell me they supported me and to encourage me. So God was faithful to let me know I was in His will.

I wholeheartedly agree that we should show love to the lost but for the Christian who is living in sin or committing any of the sins listed in 1 Cor 5:11 and is not repentent, we must obey the Word of God and we "must not associate" or "even eat with such people." This is a very difficult teaching and even harder to put into practice but we cannot replace our wisdom for the Lord's. I've personally been in this situation and I can tell you it was the hardest thing, so far, that I've had to deal with in my Christian walk. But, in the end, the couple married and the Lord gave me the freedom to be part of that celebration as they walked together away from sin. If one partner is a Christian and one is not, that is even more complicated but we still must obey the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to guide our actions so they are in line with God's Word. Thanks for dealing with such a difficult topic, most people avoid it.
