My GP recommended the Mirena coil about 5 years ago - I had it put in and nearly passed out from the pain - she was most unsympathetic saying that it really shouldn't have hurt. IT BLOODY DID.
I knew several people who had the Mirena and the GP highly recommended it so I was quite excited about the prospect of having pain free, light periods and no contraceptive worries.
The next day I noticed I was starting to get a few spots (as in on my face!).
The next day I noticed they were worse, and I felt a bit blue.
The next day, skin awful, I was quite tearful.
Every day that passed drew me further into a blue funk, I was extremely tearful, anxious, had awful skin - after 10 days I physically pulled it out. (Yes, it stang a bit....)
Started to feel better within hours.
Now, I use the 'luck and judgement' method of contraception. It isn't ideal.... and I still get hormonal migraines and period pains etc. But I couldn't have stood another day with that thing in me.
You know your own body Jay - listen to it. I'm glad you are feeling better, long may it continue.
xx
