Indiana Jones meets Da Vinci Code for middle school sounds great. I know at the end of grade school, I was reading Jack London and starting on space operas, so I'm sure I would have loved it.

Great review, fun accounts of your baseball trip back east, and useful links Rosie. Your Jane Yolen recommendation reminded me of a time - late 80's and early 90's I think - when a number of authors were reworking old tales to reflect contemporary concerns. Jane Yolen, Susan Cooper, and Dianna Wynne Jones come to mind. I have a collection of stories on this theme that I never finished - now I may have to. I remember there were three Sleeping Beauty retellings and in one of them, it was the Prince who needed saving.
