You know what's funny? Despite what a major public safety concern WMATA's blatant negligence is, there seems to be no interest in doing anything about it from those that actually could. I've contact DC reps, news programs, and even consumer advocacy groups, and if I got any response at all, it was of no help at all.
why would you wait for a yellow line train at greenbelt instead of hopping on the green and changing at one of the transfer stations (assuming you are going somewhere on the yellow line that a green line train doesn't).
this is a good reason for metro customers to just defend each other. if a dumb ass kid can get away with punching and metro doesn't do anything when it's reported (and doesn't even get a shit about gate-jumping), then why can't metro customers just fight back? at this point, with metro's incredible incompetence/indifference to just about every goddamn mess they encounter or create, you are pretty much on your own anyways.
i say, if the people want a safe metro, it's up to the people to make it safe.
this is ridiculous. metro gets away with so much shit, i can't believe how much of a danger they create for people. and when something happens, there is absolutely nothing anyone can do about it (and of course, that's the way the way metro likes it). what's it going to take for someone to wake the hell up? an armed psychopath?
Seriously!! Some people have to be squeezed in like sardines just to catch a train on normal days. What kind of crowds is this going to create on the station platforms.
Good lord. Metro has managed to find even more ways to make people NOT want to take the train anymore!
their own employees were victims of company negligence and STILL nothing happened!! not a goddamn thing ever happens except, of course, that fares go up.
i don't normally ride the blue line south, but did last week, on an overcrowded train to crystal city. to add insult to injury, there was no air conditioning on the train, or working escalators at the station. i was surprised when a lady spoke up and suggested that everyone write wmata and dr. gridlock about the problem that day.

given this, and the morning paper's announcement that metro was aware that safety exits had been locked or blocked for years, how is metro not the subject of major civil lawsuits? they've literally killed people with negligence!
