A big YES! to this post. Self-care is so, so important, like you said. For yourself first, and then as a model for your daughter, who is learning how to be a woman from watching you. And I know that you, just like I do, want to be the best role model that you can be. :-)

It always chaps my hide when people use the word "gender" to refer to "sex". They're not one-in-the same, and I really wish that would stop. I'm happy to report that my own two daughters (ages 10 and 12) know the difference between these two things, and that the words cannot always be used interchangeably.

Also, I'm in total agreement -- this just doesn't need to be a thing. How about having a - "We're having a baby, let's eat some cake!" party and calling it good?

Because I'm all for cake.

And that's what it's got to be -- it's got to be FOR YOU. Glad you can see that. :-) Just another way in which you totally rock. xo

I know that the world is scary. Hell, I'm afraid for my own two daughters who aren't transgendered, so I can't imagine how much fear you must feel some days. It's okay to feel that fear once in a while. It keeps your head from exploding (which is a very good thing) and it can be your motivation for pressing forward. Because your daughter needs you. And the transgender community needs you, too.

Change is happening. And you're one of the people who is helping to move it forward. <3

Please let Gutsy know that there are a lot of people out here who are grateful that she's willing to allow you to share her story with us. We appreciate it.

I also have a solution to the shoe problem (and incidentally your foot problem as well). Old lady orthotic shoes! Your feet will get better and no 11 year old in her right mind would steal THOSE. Problem solved! ;-)

**round of applause**

You're teaching that daughter of yours exactly how to be fierce! In the nicest way possible, of course. :)

Woooo!

*round of thundering applause*

Cripalities aside, you are one classy broad.

Your daughter is so fortunate to have you not only on her side, but as a role model. No need to wonder where she got all of her strength and bravery from.
