We used to catch minnows too but I have no memory of what on earth we did with them once we caught them. I think the the realities of today's world - or maybe just our acute awareness of the dangers as broadcast to us 24/7 - have resulted in a completely different existence for kids and, in my case, grandkids. It is sad that you can't just send them out to play or walk to the park or go door to door selling girl scout cookies. Add to that the mine field of social media and I think kids AND parents have it very tough nowadays. There is opportunity and education and mind-opening possibilities though technology but the evil side is tough to protect against and navigate.

Greta, I am so, so sorry for your loss. I'm sure there wasn't a dry eye in the house as you shared your heartbreaking and touching story with the LTYM crowd. I lost my father suddenly when I was 6 years old. I will tell you that your instincts about answering your children's questions are what will guide you and them through. I've heard it said that the loss of a parent is "the loss that is forever" but by your keeping his story alive, you are giving your children the gift of "knowing" their father.

Glue gun burns are so aggravating! I have a tube of pure aloe on hand (kept in the refrigerator so it stays nice and cool) for burn emergencies. I can't keep a plant alive to save my life so having the tube of gel is my way of cutting out the middle man. Happy SITS Day!

Kim, I loved participating in the challenge even though I wasn't able to be "all in". It was the first challenge I have ever done so I learned a lot about myself, my writing, and the incredible generosity of other bloggers. Thanks so much!!

Haha! When I read about the "Michigan Left" I first thought you were talking about the ideological left-leaning folks of Michigan. Traffic lights are a whole different thing! Huge kudos to you for working at a high school in inner city Detroit. In my opinion there is nothing more important than education. I'm enjoying looking at your "throwback" posts! This was a great idea for a challenge!
