I think the thing I value most here is how "huge nerd" is NOT a pejorative, but a fucking ::fierce:: brand of everyday life.

I just loved every moment of being able to hear so many different kinds of voices, but, somehow, sans a lot of the other awful rhetoric that can come along with that. (All made possible by the perfect moderation of comments that is the World's Worst Job and notice how Mike Rowe never once offered to take it on?)

The articles were ::all:: valuable -- and the comments equally so.

Thank you all for letting me say things, but, even more importantly, thank you all for saying INCREDIBLY interesting things that changed so much of how/who I am in the world.

Literally the whole thing is bonkers and then also too his actual Twitter timeline is just him saying, again and again, "macular degeneration" and "a small village hall."

Also, "It happened in a small village hall" is my new, "I don't know, maybe?"

But the guy and his blind mum at the village polling place -- what's your take on that? It was all over my Twitter feed and that guy is doubling down on his story -- that his mum is blind, but not, you know, ::blind:: blind, but with macular degeneration, and so that's why she yelled out loudly, "Which box for leave?" and the village polling place, according to this one guy's account, erupted in loud applause and Queen Victoria, not dead at all this whole time but just sleeping, walked up to the blind, but not ::blind:: blind, woman, kissed her eyes and healed her?

But what if I told you the Trump offspring weren't technically "people," in the human sense?

Seconding, for whatever that's worth, how awesome that Gore Vidal piece is.

Can you give me an idea of a good book that could be considered "popular works written by scholars" on the subject of sexuality in the ancient world? Like, what was the first book you read that made you think, "Yes, I get it."

You have given me such a gift with this.
