I saw him (the actor) in Austin this summer on the street. He was really drunk. I was like (quietly) "Hey that's the guy from Mindy!" And tried to nonchalantly stare at him to confirm it was him. People from TV look a lot like themselves in person!

This show has some really good lines and some really problem lines, kind of like Mindy Kaling's book.

Uhh. She also has 9 kids. In addition to her prolific, record-breaking career & her pursuit of other artistic work/business. She's unstoppable!
Also the whole post is great.

It was really hot here last week. I ran outside & water was not cutting it. So I made water + salt + a sugar packet in my office pantry.

I think for most cardio (30 mins-1 hr), you are fine without anything but water. But I think there are benefits to some more specialized sports drinks like Hammer HEED. Maybe just because I've used it with more success than gatorade or powerade (which is the worst, it's just pure sugar).

Also for super endurance, Hammer Endurolytes are magical. I don't know what's in there but it works. Cramp-free for a half iron on a blazing hot day when many of my co-competitors were dropping like flies.

Haha hmm I promise I don't sell Hammer products! I just think they are well-researched and can be beneficial.

YES to fueling before & after! Chocolate soy milk post-run for the win (I pick soy instead of dairy because it seems to have fewer extraneous ingredients than dairy chocolate milk).

I did a long ride this morning & am now drooling at Nicole's burger description.

Also not sure how to describe this, but I do love that ravenous, body-tired feeling that lasts all day after an especially long workout. I mean, I put stuff in my body that helps it recover, but do you know what I mean?

Ahh! I came here to say "The Freshman" was extra big in my middle school because the band was the first from my hometown to have a hit on the alternative rock station. But wikipedia says they are from not my hometown & now I don't know what to think. Mallory, thank you for reminding me of this excellent song!

Yes Train is its own brand of lyrical genius. "She checks out Mozart while she does tae-bo [note: watch video for him pantomiming tae-bo in leather pants]/ reminds me that there's room to grow."

I hate riding bike baths in DC. There is too much traffic & you can't really ride. I prefer riding in the road and am used to it/generally toe the line between behaving and getting away with shit. For longer rides, going out MacArthur Blvd towards Great Falls is nice.

But to avoid cars, a great option is Beach Drive on weekends - it's closed between Broad Branch & Military. So you have a road-sized path that goes for several miles. And is flat to boot.

Yes to this "Then one day you realize that what your body can do is far more important to you than how it looks." Reminds me of my favorite line from the Open Letter to Bikini Season on tumblr. "My body is a machine."

I'm a title IX woman too. Rower in college turned triathlete & now down to biking to work and eking out a few half marathons a year. But I'm itching to get a new road bike again & do a half iron next year. Because my body is a machine and nothing is quite as satisfying as pushing that machine to her limits.

You mean "Why I am a Reproductive Justice Doula?" because that's what I would call your emphasis on the importance of women feeling trusted and supported in healthcare decision-making.

Good piece, more points for The-Toast
