I like the "look." Actually, it's a multi-faceted one that can say a lot of things, including, "Seriously? You're serious?"
My post this week is number 11, Affordable Homeschooling. People first starting out, and even homeschoolers who have been doing this for awhile, can get caught up in the catalogs and all the stuff to buy, but you can slow yourself down and keep the final order from being overwhelmingly large.

When our oldest was a baby, I bought one new item of clothing for her; the rest was yard sale items. Within two times of wearing the brand new piece, it looked just like the used clothing I got from the yard sales!

Welcome back from va-cay. I'm number 10 this week -- Homeschooling? Yes, You Can Teach Writing.

In 20 years of homeschooling, I have met a lot of parents who have zero confidence about their ability to teach writing to their kids, so they slap a workbook in front of the child and swish grammar sheets around. Not surprisingly, the child 1) hates the concept of writing and 2) isn't very good at it.

It doesn't have to be this way, folks. If you're a reasonably intelligent person, and I'm sure you are or you wouldn't be homeschooling in the first place, you can teach your child to write, and write well. Go for it!

A university degree does not an intelligent person make. Stay at home moms need to be savvy, fast on their feet, able to multi-task, patient, financially aware -- the list goes on and on. As a lifetime stay at home mom who writes and runs a business, I agree, and concur, wholeheartedly with your sentiments!

I am number 19 this week -- How Little Money Can You Live on? It's a question many people ask ourselves, but the crucial second question is this -- what sustainable changes, customizable to my unique family situation, can I make that will work. No one-size-fits-all answers.

Thank you for hosting. I am number 23 this week, Viggo Mortensen, Will You Drop by? which discusses the beauty and advantage of living in rural America, and small or mid-sized towns.

I am number 20 this week, the Exhausted Smiley Face Emoticon. Things are changing fast in this society of ours, and communication is one of them. But not all changes are positive, and in our efforts to encapsulate our thoughts in 20 words or less, we rely upon short cuts, like the emoticon, to make up for actual communication. It's something to think about.

Thank you for the link to my blog. Since this was written, the College Girl has received her own mini-indoor-clothes-rack that she tucks into her bath tub. She loves it -- especially since it does not require quarters.
