MindManager for Windows has some handy short cuts to help with these...

1) F3 closes all branches except the one that you're on and it opens the one that you're on.
2) Right clicking on Icons / markers allows you to apply a quick filter to show or hide topics with that marker.
3) In the View menu, you have a Show/Hide option that lets you pick what to show / hide in your map.
4) F4 allows you to hide the rest of the map and only show the branch that you're on at the moment. On that same topic, using F4 a second time returns the whole map.
5) Similar to #2, right click on topic to see its context menu. Choose Send Topics to...A new Linked Map.

Chuck,

We missed you at the BiggerPlate conference last week.

My presentation was about this very topic --- using (dashboard) maps to make better life and work decisions as a result of the clarity you get from capturing your true goals and objectives and using them to align your decisions and actions.

Here's a copy of my presentation map: http://www.biggerplate.com/mindmaps/FBaxZYAz/usin...

Love them! One correction, in MindManager 2012, you can import all the images in one shot (in other words, you're not limited to uploading them one at a time). If you go to MindManager's Image Library, select "Add Image". In the dialog that opens, you can pick one or more than one image to insert into your library. I just uploaded the 700+ free images into MindManager in a single step. Can't wait to add them into some of my maps!

Francis, MindManager 2012 allows you to apply one or more tags per topic and then you can use the marker index to navigate to the tagged topics. It's really straightforward. Would love to get your feedback.
