I really liked that Stanley had more to do here. It made him less of a joke and more as a character who brings depth to the story in his own funny little ways.

My heart breaks a little at Sir Pterry's cameo as a postman. GNU Terry Pratchett.

You never have to say goodbye to the real witches, because they're still with you.

GNU, Sir Pterry.

The chain mail that Magrat offers Letitia is a call back to the Queen Ynci battledress Magrat wore in Lords and Ladies. I like to think that it's the same chain mail.

The Stick and Bucket dance, as we already know from L&L, is very effective in fighting elves, and while the footnote reminds us that it isn't done if women are present, it was Nanny Ogg who long ago explained that "otherwise it's sexual morrisment."

Kind of a callback to Lords and Ladies, where Granny Weatherwax recited the name of her teacher and her teacher's teacher - her witchcraft lineage, so to speak - when Tiffany reminds Mrs. Earwig that she is the "young woman" who is Granny Weatherwax's successor, and that Granny Weatherwax was taught by Nanny Gripes, and so forth to Black Aliss.

Witches never ask to ride for free. They just graciously accept whatever gifts sensible people choose to give.

I agree. Vetinari is no one to trifle with, but he generally stays in the palace. Vimes ... Vimes shows up in so many unexpected places.
