Oh my. That note made me cry.

My 3 year old son was told by his best friend at nursery that he didn't want to be friends anymore one day. He was beside himself. I wish I could protect him from hurt but sadly adults are no better.

Oh and I was bullied when I was at primary school. Sadly it's all been around a long time.

For any value, any level, I would like to think I'd give at least some of it away. I'm so blooming lucky in my life. Not everyone would agree with that statement if they knew my past but I know it to be true and I know how close it has been at times to not being good.

Apart from that, the practical person in me would agree with your other half but I do think you need some joy. I came into a small amount of money a little while ago. Not a lot, just some. I put most of it against the mortgage, kept 10% just for me which I ended up spending some on charity and the rest just got absorbed into nursery costs etc and went before I knew it and gave 10% to someone else. To be honest I wish I'd planned what I was going to spend it on more but glad I gave to charity.

I like this idea, I think I'll start something similar with my son!

I recently donated some money I saved by cooking for 5 more days than I would have from my store cupboard and freezer. The charity I gave to was the Trussell Trust. It is useful for food banks to receive cash donations as well as food because not everything a family might need is going to be donated. It is so important to support food banks at the moment. Some families are putting a brave face on it but they're really teetering on the edge.

Always. Not just for birthday cakes but for all food IMO. I make my own bread sometimes (not enough but sometimes) but I make my own meals, baking etc. It's not just about flavour, I think it's better for the soul.

I'm pretty olive skinned so factor 15 in the UK on hot days for me, factor 30 abroad but the one thing I've really come round to is the once a day lotions / sprays. I tried them on holiday in southern Spain at 40 degrees and they worked a treat. Didn't go even slightly pink.

I think the thing is 30 years ago, we would rarely as a family use sun cream in the UK at all. I'm lucky that I do go brown and didn't sit still for long but my Dad was one of those "Go pink first" types.

The problem is that for every person who was an idiot and didn't put any cream on at all, there would be someone who didn't realise they needed to reapply as often as they should. I mean with regular suncream it's meant to be every 1-2 hours! Does anyone do that? Or they might have chosen the wrong factor or got caught out by cloud like you. I'm always really reluctant to judge people who are already in A&E, I'm betting they've already learned their lesson.

I do a lot of no added sugar baking on my blog. The way I do it is to use dried fruit and naturally sweet fruits and vegetables like apples or sweet potatoes. The added fibre as well from these sweet sources of energy help keep down the overall GI. I find now that I'm getting used to eating less sugar and find some things too much for me either because they're tooth achingly sweet or because they give me a rush than crash which I didn't recognise before.

I try and do most of my son's baking without using refined sugar or sugar substitutes too.
