It's still *rude* but it's something you can sincerely apologize and be forgiven for having to do. And the intendeds will probably understand sometimes needs trump courtesy.

Seriously. SERIOUSLY. Having lost the art of RSVPing is just appalling. My inner Miss Manners gets fumey about it. It's so rude. I pretty much have quit throwing parties because people don't RSVP or don't come at all without saying or show up way late to a dinner or... or... It's lucky my introversion gland is over producing right now, since that morass would make my "noone likes me" anxiety kick into overdrive.
RSVPing and then not coming to a wedding is 10th circle of hell rude.
