Barabbas looked more like their concept of Messiah than the true Jesus Son of God did. Irony! That was their truth that day just like we have the choice to accept and live out truth or choose the false idols. Good reminders, great verses.

I can relate. I've spoken so many of the words you wrote, thought the same thoughts, struggled with the same struggles, felt/feel the same pain. You're not alone!!! -- in more ways than one -- lamenting is real. Our God is real. His love is real even when we feel like we're straining to see it and receive it. The 'piece of meat' contest makes me roll my eyes every time I read Esther - and poor Vashti - I always feel so bad for her!
But I do love how we get to see the heart of Mordecai and his love for Esther. She's like a daughter to him. I can't imagine my heart and mind knowing my daughters were basically being used as prostitues. Wow. Yet Mordecai demonstrates trust. And his checking on Esther as best he could because he cared about her so deeply reminds me of my Heavenly Father and His love for me. No matter what situation I find myself in the middle of, He can always use it for His glory and His perfect plan!
