Well said Bethany! It is God's kindness that leads us to repentance...Jesus even tells us that the way to show Him we love Him is to "obey His teaching." So grace and kindness draw us to Him. Out of our thankful hearts we show Him love by obeying Him....Thank you!

The Message version is not my favorite version of the Bible, but it certainly gives me pause and things to think about that I don't get from NIV, NASB, or another version. I have actually found it challenging and wonderfully helpful in some areas. However generalizing it to "I don't know why anyone would want to read that," is a bit extreme. Remember we all have freedom in Christ Romans 14.

I used to like to think of Jesus as a meek and mild man. Not "wild" in anyway. However He is called the Lion of Judah. A lion by definition is wild, powerful, awe-inspiring. He is also the Lamb who takes away or sin. A lamb by definition is tame, meek, gentle. That is the mystery that Serena is talking about All-powerful, All-knowing, All-loving God willing to be a sacrificial lamb and take our sins for us. My heart swells and is humbled that He would do that for me. That is the mystery.

I hope I never lose sight or fall out of the starry eyed love for a Savior that Serena has.
