Well, I feel somewhat vindicated. Over two years ago I said that we should form a "Space Patrol" and note this as "justification" for building a spacefaring framework. I've long argued that a DL should be abolished. Issue a certificate that the person has passed the minimum requirement to be allowed to operated a personal vehicle on a gov't road.

My first DL had no picture and was not laminated. It was a small piece of cardboard with a description and my address.

The small thing for my Single Engine Land certificate from the FAA. The small for my dispatcher's certificate from the FAA.

Suspending a DL for non-driving violations (like not paying child support) should be a violation of the right to travel. But you'll never get a court to buy into that.

I agree that the NRC is a greater hinderance than help. But once we're out in Space ... the NRC has no say ...

Maybe using a thorium (or uranium) MSR would eliminate the radiator requirement since it will be used to generate power ... and eliminate the coolant loop.

Money not spent on HSF will not go to robotics, it will go back into the general budget.

Without HSF, then the need for many robotic missions will go away thus the robotic budget will also be reduced.

You're living an illusion if you believe that the end of HSF will benefit robotic exploration. Just the opposite, you'll find that the robotic missions will be greatly reduce and the money used for the general budget as well.
