I always found the first day of school harder on me than the boys. Even now as a grandparent I couldn't wait to photograph the exiting of the school bus that first day to capture their excitement, a good reminder to them when the day comes they don't want to go to school.

Loved your photos today.

Dale, it's great that you are going to make your own bags. They are especially welcome at farmers' markets and food coops. The regular stores still give me strange looks but the farmers love it because it saves them on purchasing bags.

Joy, this brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful childhood you had and an amazing family who taught you the joys of the woods. So many places I used to visit, hike and just "be" in are gone to development. What a shame future generations will never know the life we had.

I never know what I want to eat, so a strict eating plan doesn't work for me. I may love the food but not want it that particular day. Good luck with your goal, I won't disclose my weight to anyone, let's just say not being able to get a good workout has been causing a problem with my weight.

Happy Birithday, Sarah! I hope you had a good time, sorry the food wasn't at all appealing to me. I am shocked by how small the portions are compared to what is served in the US restaurants. My most memorable time out at a restaurant was back in 1982. I thought I was going to have a nice quiet dinner with my then fiance, that is until he noticed a woman eating all alone. She was much older than we were but he dragged me over and asked her if she would like company. At the end of the night, she hugged me and thanked me for sharing my man. She shared that she was a recent widow and her friends had been uncomfortable around her so she was alone a lot. This night was the best night she had since her husband died.

I tend to be shy around people I don't know and would never have done that on my own but the company was good and I left with a wonderful feeling.

More great selections this week, Joy. I visited a couple and will have to return to at least one to browse around. As for the various words for snow are you sure we only went through 49 of them? :-)

Joy, I like being alone and nesting. There is a season for everything. At first when the weather cools and snow arrives I'm fine with being stuck inside but after 3 months of this I am needing to get out. Even if only to sit outside for a brief time. I guess I'm a cross between you and your husband.

I'm not sure anything can make me feel better about winter dragging on. I have cabin fever big time. i want my outdoor time back, but even if I could handle these below freezing temps I would get stuck in the mounds of snow.

I've joked about meteorologists for years. Wouldn't it be nice to know you could be wrong on the only thing that matters about your job and not fear losing it? I think they are way overpaid for what they give us. :-)
