Thank you for sharing your story. I was very fortunate to grow up where we didn't have to worry about money, but my parents still instilled the value of money and hard work at a young age. I had my first job at 13 also, and worked through most of high school and all of college, and paid for things like car insurance that my parents told me were my responsibility. I think regardless of your own financial situation, these are valuable lessons to learn, and I will certainly teach them to my daughter.

I've recently lamented the fact that I don't think I can let me daughter walk to the playground by herself as she gets older. Not because I'm worried something will happen to her, but because someone might call protective services! I live in a small city so there are plenty of playgrounds within walking distance. It's unfortunate, but perhaps something will change as she gets older. (Right now she's only 2 she has a ways to go anyway!) Thanks for sharing and linking up with the Who I Am project.

Oh yum, this sounds delicious! I always have a few cans of pumpkin puree stocked in our house this time of year so I can't wait to try this out. Thanks for sharing, stopping by from SITS!

You are actually making me look forward to the teenage years, which I'll admit I have dreaded since before I even became a mom. It's hard to imagine my toddler ever being so grown-up, but then again it's hard to believe how much she can already do.

I just went back on dairy after not eating it for 9 months, and I wish I had known about this recipe! I really like caramel and was disappointed to not be able to eat it, but I'm glad to see there are alternatives. And I really like cooking with coconut milk. I just switched from Blogger to WordPress this year and I'm so glad I did it! And I would highly recommend going to a blogging conference if you can. It can be intimidating, but I have found that the blogging community is very welcoming and MOST people feel that way. Stopping by from Mommy Monday Bloghop!

I love with blogging that it gives you permission to write in a way that feels natural. For so many years I was in academic mode, and when I started blogging that was how I knew how to write. Now I write more like I speak, and feel more and more comfortable writing and sharing my thoughts. I think your voice really shines through on your blog!

My daughter is almost 1, so I'm a ways away from having to deal with her & social media, thankfully, but it is something that concerns me. I think it is a tricky balance between allowing some things and saying no to others, one which I am sure I will be working to figure out as she gets older. Great post, lots of important things to think about! Stopping by from Mommy Monday Blog hop.
