Along the lines of friendship, this is the CM quote I had underlined from my reading this week (from the end of Chapter 2 in Volume 6):

She is speaking about "urging a method of self-education for children in lieu of the vicarious education which prevails." "The teacher who allows his scholars the freedom of the city of books is at liberty to be their guide, philosopher and friend; and is no longer the mere instrument of forcible intellectual feeding." I think that is the result of allowing the children to form their own relationships with ideas.

Oh I'd love to read along, but I've got another project on the go this month that I really must focus on! Another time I'll get to School Education... I'd better finish Home Education first, too! One thing at at time, right? :)

Does this volume only deal with children ages 9-12? Or is it applicable to younger children as well?

So many books! So exciting! I feel like I have a lot of loose ends from last year to tie up as well. I'll need to do that and then figure out my plan. I can't really have any more than 3 on the go at once either.

How does the online group with Start Here by Brandy work? Are you already part way through it? I'd like to keep reading the original works as well. I get sidetracked by other things!
