It made me sad too, Jill. I wasn't a huge fan. I don't even think I ever heard the whole of "Rehab", but I saw her life just like everyone else. Her life made me sad for her. You're right. Obvious pain. It was written there, on her face.

27...she was only 27 years old. Such a waste.

For Coleman it actually started in Kindergarten, and got pretty bad in 1st grade. When it became evident his "best friend" was hitting him, and then talked him into a game where they hit Julia (age 2). I finally just told him. This person is not your friend, and you're not allowed to play with him anymore. He was crushed, and mad. He argued and debated, yelled and screamed. It took 2 years before he finally saw it. Once he had a "true" friend or two he was able to see what a shit that other kid was.

I've stayed out of this conversation for 4 + weeks. But now I'm going to say something.

I'm autistic, and that's not what I hear when parents say that. What I hear, is people who wish to God their children didn't suffer. My children are autistic. My son, in particular suffers. On my worst "autistic" day, I don't suffer as much as I do on HIS worst "autistic" day. It's heart wrenching.

I understand the concept of autism being intrinsically part of who we are. I don't know who or what I'd be if I wasn't autistic. I understand your point as clearly as you make it. But I don't think it's fair of you to come here and try to play on the guilt of these parents who want nothing more than to stop the suffering of their children.
