Excellent customer service along with making your staff feel like part of a team can do much to prevent problems. However, there will always be someone dissatisfied who could harm your online reputation.
Search engines like google should have a built-in component that identifies honest reviews from malicious ones. I'm sure the knowledge to do that exists.

1. Close the tax loopholes - no need to raise taxes, just make sure that the people pay the taxes that's required of their income group.
2. Look at the problems of the poor: inferior housing, if any. Build many more geared to income homes
3. Provide a means for a way out of poverty. Anyone collecting welfare should be educated as to how to make better use of funds received - that is lessons in shopping, nutrition, etc and training for jobs that utilize their skills and talents.
I know this may sound naive but I am only one person - the government has thousands along with it seems unlimited funds to be able to get started on this.
4. The government should start using it's (rather out) money wisely. We've seen some really bad handouts here in this country and that needs to stop.

This is the question that caught my eye - "In short, what do you think politicians need to do in order to regain confidence?" I believe it comes down to this - Do more, talk less. Instead of creating an environment to benefit the rich look at ways to improve the quality of life for the poor.

I think if you share your vision and let people know you value and trust their input (if you don't, why are they still working for you) they will in turn support you in your mission

Catarina, one of our sons saw the world in black or white, there were no grey areas - no room for compromise. For him it was either right or wrong, according to his views. He has since learned that life is a compromise - you need to listen to and respect other's views and possibly even change your own perceptions. This is necessary in leaders as well as in life..

I have. There was a completely erroneous and negative report in the newspaper about the charity I worked for. I was ready to go the newspaper office and tell them what I thought of them for such sleazy reporting. My chairman said to let it be. I did and within a couple of days it was forgotten.

Catarina, the best way to survive a scandal is to ignore it. Pretty soon something more interesting comes along for the media to grab on to.

Catarina, I love this post. It is so true that life today is like a Bond film, unfortunately we don't have a Bond around to clean the mess up. We only seem to have the villains who find governing countries takes so little time that they have all this extra time left over to tweet nonsense and to verbally abuse each other.

Catarina, when you stated that music can make people buy things I was reminded about what I learned about shopping. The music that is played in stores often contains a subliminal message encouraging customers to buy. Since I became aware of that I make sure to stick to my list.
For sure movies without music would not be the same. The swell of the music prepares you for dramatic scenes.

I'm retired so don't have to network anymore in the same way but my son is awesome at it. He has a B2B consulting company and he hires people in countries - other than Canada - where he does business, mainly England and the USA. All of this is only possible because of the networking through social media and through his large number of contacts - someone knows someone who is just perfect for the job.
