I agree wholeheartedly. And I am so pleased about it.

I just read a book about Margaret Cavendish that I think other Toasties might enjoy. It's called Margaret the First, and it's by Danielle Dutton (who also founded an independent press that publishes fiction by women). It's a fictionalized version of Cavendish's life, and the prose is really poetic and beautiful.

Hey Toasties, how do I get in touch with those of you in the bay area? There must be lots of us, right? Is there a FB group or google group? I'm relatively new here, and would love to meet up.

Bay Area toasties! I've just accepted a job in Berkeley that I'm pretty excited about, and I'll be moving out to the Bay Area from the midwest within the next month or so. The position is for 1 year with a low chance of being extended. Any recommendations for how to find housing there, preferably for a place starting in the beginning of September? I'm going to be looking in Berkeley and Oakland, and if I'm Oakland, would prefer to be close to a BART station for commuting purposes. Which are good areas of those places to look for housing in? Is finding a studio or 1-bedroom for $1500 (or preferably less) per month do-able, or should I be looking for a room in a larger apartment with roommates? Is there any chance of finding a furnished apartment or sublet for a year? Should I bring my car, or leave it in the midwest with my partner? Thanks in advance for any advice!

I loved all the blatant innuendos in this episode. Can't wait for Will to come back so there can be Hannibal/Will sexual tension again.

Hi Toasties. I tend to be more of a lurker than a commenter around these parts, but I would really love some advice. My best friend's mom just got diagnosed with cancer, and it looks like it will be pretty difficult to treat. I live halfway across the country from my friend, and her mom lives even further away. Any ideas on the best ways to be supportive? I plan on texting her regularly and calling to check in, I just want her to know that I'm there for her if she needs me.

All you Chopped fans should watch Cutthroat Kitchen (1st season is on Netflix). It's like Chopped BUT you can buy sabotages in auctions (like replacing an opponent's cheese for a grilled cheese sandwich challenge with cheese wiz, or forcing someone to cook their omelette on the bottom of their pan). Each player starts with $25k and you only win whatever money you have left at the end. It's also got snarky Alton Brown as the host, who is often making faces of sheer disgust at the stuff the contestants cook (seriously, almost all the food looks horrible).

My favorite part is always when the male chefs get in a dick-swinging contest during the auctions, and their female competitor is just looking at them like, what is wrong with you dummies? It is the best show to yell at.

I offer this photo as further evidence that cats are not real.

Could a real creature possibly be comfortable with this chin rest?

Coltrane dove headfirst into his box:

(Please note this is a Costco size cereal box, as he is a rather large cat)

Seems like there are 2 planned events tonight in Madison, one on the steps of the city council building on MLK blvd, and another on the corner of state and mifflin. Both are scheduled at 6pm.
