I write weird, sometimes serious, sometimes comedic, and rather sporadically on this blog I have: https://laurenelizabethwrites.com/

When I was a kid I had a book with animal illustrations in it, and I realise now it was obviously American because it had this weird looking creature labelled "opossum" and I was like "the hell is this mum? That's not a possum? I don't understand!"

Yeah New Zealanders hate possums as fervently as Aussies hate foxes, cats and rabbits. Feral animals are bad, no matter how cute they are :(

Oh wow I did not know that! I thought only Australia had marsupials - how did they get all the way over there???
Still, not as cute :P

Agreed. You'll catch your death in 15 - 20 degree weather without a jumper

The Australian possum and American possum at completely different species. Ours is okay looking but will live in your roof and make weird noises until you're convinced you have a haunting

As an Aussie who came here to defend our fairly-cute-but-scary-and-dangerous possum... fair enough. Your ones sound extra silly. And they don't even have adorable marsupial pouches.

I got into fandom through imdb too! I was 15 and all my friends were going through their emo angst stage and meanwhile I was spending hours every day on imdb talking to strangers about phantom of the opera.

I know right! I never studied Othello so my first experience of it was the black face opera at Sydney opera house. It was awful and made me hate it.
