I always do short row heels, but I never bother with short row toes - I find ordinary ones where you decrease at each side of the toe fit perfectly well and, as you say, there's much less grafting! I have done SR toes for toe-up socks, which is easier once you've done the provisional cast on.

I usually leave either 10 or 12 unwrapped stitches in the centre, which works for me. But it probably depends on the shape of your heel.

I know just what you mean about getting bogged down by having too much to write about, I've lost a couple of blogs to that! Hopefully the current one won't...

I love the slippers, they're really pretty - but the idea of hand-felting puts me off actually making them.

And thanks for the heads-up about the Ethical Twist, I have lots of it but I'll definitely swatch and wash before starting. TBH, I usually do, after a near miss with some Cash Iroha (it grows and doesn't shrink back!)
