I'd think it would be good to have guests put shells in buckets on the table, for two reasons. One, the restaurant won't have to sort them out and 2. it will make diners aware of the issue, which is always good.

What were they doing with shells before? Just throwing them away??

There is a local stand here selling nothing but strawberries. I LOVE strawberries, but I pass it by because the berries are not organic.

I do my best to avoid GMOs, but it's incredibly hard. I absolutely will not buy corn products (tortillas, chips) unless they're organic. I eat a lot of fresh, homemade food that allows me to trace the ingredients. But ingredients like soy lecithin sneak into SO many food items - and odds are good that it's GMO soy.

In case your readers don't know, the big GMO culprits are corn, cotton, canola, soy, and sugar beets (make sure your sugar is CANE sugar). There's also a lot of GMO papaya on the market, and I've just read that GMO potatoes are know being allowed on the US market. It's a travesty that our food system has come to this. Time for a garden, everyone!
