Another vote for 'Dare Me,' here. I spent a fair amount of that book shouting 'NO TEENAGER TALKS LIKE THAT' at it (sometimes on public transport.)

So many of these. OH so many...

I find Pride and Prejudice remarkably ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. See also Mill on the Floss. And North and South. And the less said about The Corrections, the better (so many people said it was amazing! And they were wrong!) I sped through The Leftovers as I just found it tedious. And I am one of those people who slogged all the way through The Luminaries, only for it to leave them cold. (It took me a month to read that book, but BY GOD I did it!)

GOD I HATED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. ALL THE MEN IN IT ARE TOTAL DOUCHE CANOES, ESPECIALLY THAT ANGEL LAD WHO CAN'T FORGIVE HER BECAUSE SHE BANGED ANOTHER DUDE BEFORE HIM. JESUS MAN. DOUBLE STANDARDS ALL THE WAY.

TLDR; I've hated this book since I read it in high school, and have forever after called it 'Tess of the Durrrbrains' as a result. Not that any of Thomas Hardy's books are a laugh riot. Jude the Obscure anyone?
