This isn't a classic slasher as much as a new twist on monster and zombie horror movies, but I just saw "The cabin in the woods" and loved it! They took a few pokes at the Scream series as well.

I've used settings that are so far-out I can hardly even think of how to research them and have to rely on pure imagination, and settings that are very close to my everyday. Toronto is a great compromise - a wonderful, unique, worldly city about an hour's distance from me. That's where my new novel "The Scroll" starts - though it ends up somewhere in Iran.
