I do not understand the no mashed potatoes business! It's by far my favorite part of Thanksgiving. I complained about it to my sister who *also* did not make mashed potatoes for the dinner she hosted at her house.

My Thanksgiving was kind of atrocious :( My MIL did not make gravy or mashed potatoes and she belittled my husband and smoked the whole time. I did, however, make delicious soup last night, so still a productive holiday weekend!

This was great! My husband responds the same way your dad does (not about the gun, but about the underlying implication that it might be your fault) when I complain about misogynists at work and it's been difficult for me to articulate why that is a problem.
