The real Charles and Caroline had a boy, Frederick, who only lived for a few months. It's unclear what the cause of death was. Laura (and her daughter Rose) chose to keep Freddie out of the Little House series.

This is almost entirely excellent, but Dana dying a second time is reopening that Chaiken-shaped wound in my gay heart. WHY.

My mother (a business executive who dressed like the protagonist in Kate Beaton's 1980s Businesswoman Comics well into the '90s) used to bring me to her office for Take Our Daughters to Work Day. I looked forward to it every year because she let me use her computer and it was pretty much the only time I could read X-Files fanfic without my dad hovering over my shoulder trying to figure out what was going on.

The Emma Thompson adaptation is gloriously perfect in every way and I don't even care one bit that Thompson was too old to play Elinor because she gave us one of the best things available to life and existence: Elinor's reaction to Edward's proposal.

Also, I have a collection of Jane Austen temporary tattoos and my favorite one has a rose and the text ELINOR GREATLY ESTEEMS EDWARD.

Like so many others right now, I'm a dedicated Serial listener. I don't know that I'm really learning much about Hae, Adnan, and Jay, but I'm learning a lot about Sarah Koenig and her particular processes of evaluating and framing information.

Susan Baker knows more than she's letting on, and that you may tie to.

"'Oh, I see. A seasonable outburst of charity. I'm hardly a candidate for that yet, Miss Shirley.'

Anne got up. She was out of patience with this strange, aloof creature. She walked across the room and looked Katherine squarely in the eye. 'Katherine Brooke, whether you know it or not, what you want is a good spanking.'

They gazed at each other for a moment.

'It must have relieved you to say that,' said Katherine. But somehow the insulting tone had gone out of her voice. There was even a faint twitch at the corner of her mouth."

I feel like we all know what happens next.

Also, please read this fanfic about Katherine Brooke immediately, it is delightful and makes my heart sing in four part harmony: http://archiveofourown.org/works/604189

As much as I ship Paris/Rory and would love to see Paris as Gilbert, I just can't, because Paris is Katherine Brooke from the tip of her head to the end of her toes. KATHERINE BROOKE. If there's a gayer character in all of the Anneverse, PRODUCE HER. Katherine is the BEST. She hates men! She hates Anne, too! But then she doesn't hate Anne anymore! She actually has a lot of feelings about Anne that she has trouble expressing! And then she travels around the world, presumably still hating men! I like to think she returns every few years to stay with Anne and Gilbert, gazing meaningfully at Anne over needlepoint.

Dr. Mary Albright is at least 23% of the reason why I'm a professor. And Jane Curtin is an American Treasure. I will never not love her for speaking up about John Belushi's sexist bullshit.
