We purchased our funeral plans eight years ago for £2,000 each. Today the same plan would cost £3,950. Nowhere else would you get such a return on your money. I'm not talking here about one of those awful "over 50 insurance plans" which are touted in women's magazines and have been 'outed' as extremely poor value, but a proper plan with a national company which works with funeral directors. When my mother died 18 years ago I was so grateful that she had bought a plan. There was no way I had the money to pay.

I love my gym and would never be motivated enough to exercise regularly without the discipline of going there. I've been a member of 7 yeas and have made some great friends there. Admittedly, it's the promise of the coffee and chat after the exercise that keeps me going there, but so long as it makes me do that exercise, then it's a success. It's a ladies only gym aimed specifically at the over forties. I do know though that I'd never stick with a conventional gym. I think they make their money from the peop,e who sign up for a year and attend twice!

Looks great! I really like a copper effect.
I've spray painted flower pots in the past and, as you say, one can goes a long, long way.

Oh I do like leggings which aren't skin tight! Some manufacturers make all sizes the same width in the lower leg which is stupid! I think my clothes often look better without me in them too but it then makes it a bit pointless buying them, doesn't it?

I especially like the bank account skim idea. For years I have had a 'pound a day' pot. Each January I decide what to do with my £365. It has paid for spa breaks, a clothes shopping spree and weekends away.

Poor you...holidaying with teenagers can be fraught with issues. I remember it well. I certainly found that separate rooms helped, though it does add to the cost, but I think that teenage girls in particular need their privacy. Whatever, treasure these holidays because all too soon they stop wanting to come at all. It does get better later on though; in the past two years my daughter and I (she is now 31) have taken short breaks together and it has been lovely.

As a protest against their no handbag policy I stopped using Aer Lingus to fly to Ireland and turned to Ryanair. I did think a budget airline might not be very good but I found them to be absolutely fine. To clarify, Aer Lingus don't actually say no handbags but they only allow one piece of hand luggage and if you choose to use a handbag that's your lot. Ryanair allow hand luggage plus a handbag.

My biggest waste of money used to be buying prepared veg but I was working long hours and driving a lot so was tired. Since giving that up, I only ever buy prepared veg if it is substantially reduced in price.

Well what a lovely story!
Of course you love your dear dad. I lost my dad when he was only 49 and still miss him. He was a lovely man.

Do tell the store because supermarkets get a lot of bad press and 'Chris and his colleague' deserve recognition.
